Hi! My name is Sara Mackulin and I am an aspiring sports reporter, among many other things, with a passion for communicating and all things sports.
In December, I graduated from Point Park University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Reporting. This spring, I decided to pursue my academic career further and am currently pursuing my Masters in Business Administration. In tandem with my academics, I am working as a Graduate Assistant in the Point Park Athletic Department. I also work part-time for University of Pittsburgh Athletics and the Pittsburgh Pirates in their broadcast and scoreboard departments.
During my undergrad at Point Park, I served as the Station Manager of U-View, Point Park’s student-run television station. My other duties at the station included co-hosting and co-producing U-View’s sports show and longest-running production, Pioneer Sideline. I also served as a color commentator for the Point Park Sports Network.
In addition to my work in broadcasting, I graduated with a minor in Spanish, which will allow me to effectively communicate with the diversity of people I may encounter in the sports world. I also minored in Public Relations & Advertising, after exploring and falling in love with the field of media relations during internships with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Penguins.
After college, I hope to pursue a career in either sports broadcasting/communications or media relations for a professional sports team. I will not limit myself and I look forward to seeing where my determination and passion takes me in the future.
